This was a collaborative university project where I worked alongside 3 other VFX Artists and I was also the Director of it taking the lead on the project.
My role was the Director and the compositor on the project, as there was another on the project who helped with the compositing but the other 3 were environments and 3d models.
This was a fun and challenging project to be a part of as there were problems we ran into but overcame, as a team. What challenged me most was the amount of shots I had to work on and being able to composite different types of environments and settings together. Such as a murky, damp forest to a cold white Tundra.
here is an updated version of probably the best shot in the whole project.
Looking over three cliffs bay down into the valley below
I improved this shot by adding more depth and compositing additional features like the shrubbery better and using better assets to do so.
I achieved this by using Adobe PHOTOSHOP bETA's aI gENERATE FILL TO CREATE A VARIETY OF DIFFERENT ASSETS THAT I MERGED TO CREATE THE FLOWER BUSH BELOW AND THE VINES ABOVE.
here is an updated version of A shot I felt didn't get the justice it deserved.
the first improvement was matching the light and time of the DMP background with the foreground.
Next, I focused on adding more to the atmosphere so I added some fog assets I found and layered them in 3d space to create some depth.
Lastly, I adjusted the shadows to, match the shadows of the mounds and looked at more real-world references.
